There are merit & promotion eligibility lists for Continuing Lecturers, Researchers and Academic Coordinators. To access your eligibility list, log on to the Academic Personnel web site and click on the Eligibility Listing Link under the Dashboard heading. Links will appear for each category of employee. Chairs, as well as any staff within your office who have access to the on-line case processing system, have access to the eligibility information.
You may view, download to Excel, or print them to PDF.
The eligibility screen includes three sections:
- Employees eligible for review to be effective 7/1/21.
- All other employees in your department.
- Pending actions in the current cycle.
If you have any questions or see any discrepancies related to the eligibility information, please contact Academic Personnel.
Deadlines for personnel cases
The following are firm deadline dates for ladder faculty merit and promotion cases:
- Assistant professor deferral requests: September 30
- Dean's Authority Cases: 2nd Monday of November
- Expanded Review Cases: 2nd Monday of December
Department chairs are urged to prepare for personnel cases during the Spring Quarter. Whenever possible, faculty should submit their updated case materials by July 1; August 31st is the campus-wide default cut-off date. Letters requesting extramural evaluations should be sent no later than June to ensure that files are complete early in the fall.
Completed cases must be submitted to the office of the appropriate dean by the appropriate deadline. Cases received after the due date will be returned to the department and will not be processed. Recommendations must be based on materials available before August 31.
Requests for extensions to the hard deadlines must come from the department chair and should be addressed by email to the AVC for Academic Personnel with copies to both the relevant dean and the College analyst. Requests should be made before the deadline has been reached. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All temporary appointments must be approved by the dean before the quarter begins, and no one may conduct classes without an approved appointment. Also, compensation for temporary appointments must be approved in advance. Chairs/Directors may recommend appointment level, salary, and workload, but only the dean may approve these recommendations. To avoid personal liability for unapproved promises, please consult with the dean before making any commitments to candidates.
As a guideline, the starting salary for lecturers is $64,329 (effective 7/1/22). Starting salaries above this level require an explanation. Any increase in salary is regarded as a merit and must be justified. Special circumstances should be discussed with the dean.
